The Journalists Support Committee in Geneva (JSC) reminds that the deliberate bombardment of press offices, journalists, and media workers is a full-fledged war crime, the perpetrators of which should not escape punishment and prosecution, according to the International Humanitarian Law.
Based on which, JSC considers that the deliberate aerial bombardment of Al-Jawhara Tower in Gaza Strip (including many Palestinian, Arab and International press offices, production companies, newspapers, satellite channels, and websites) by Israeli military aircraft aims to silence the voice of truth, to obscure the Palestinian narrative and to obliterate the truth about the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against unarmed defenseless civilians in Gaza.
Denouncing this deliberate aggression, JSC calls for the prosecution of the perpetrators of these crimes, so that they do not escape punishment, ending impunity in crimes against journalists especially since international laws and conventions, including the Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute, consider that deliberately targeting civilians and civilian assets is a war crime.
JSC appeals to all international journalistic organizations and bodies to provide protection for Palestinian journalists, to pressure the occupation to stop its aggression and crimes against Palestinian journalists, and calls for solidarity and support for the press institutions, which have been damaged as a result of this blatant aggression.
