JSC Condemns the Israeli Violations of International Laws Protecting Journalists, with The Direct targeting of a photographer while covering the events of occupied Jerusalem

Journalist Support Committee (JSC) condemns the intentional targeting of Israeli Occupation forces' of the Palestine TV cameraman Rajai Al-Khatib, while covering the events that erupted in Occupied Jerusalem on the night of Thursday April 22nd , 2021.

Expressing absolute support for the photojournalist who was subjected to direct assault, JSC  reiterated its appeal to all international human rights and humanitarian institutions, foremost of which is the International Federation of Journalists, to pressure the Israeli authorities to refrain from its repressive and intimidating policies against all journalists and activists and to follow up on the non-compliance of the Israeli authorities with the rules of  International Humanitarian Law, especially the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions of 1949, and the concerned protocols and covenants which affirm that journalists and workers in media institutions are considered civilian objects to be protected and attacks upon which are to be criminalized  due to their vital role in covering events, in order to preserve the right of all individuals to have direct access to Information from its sources, the right to freedom of speech and expression, freedom of the press and the right to publish.
