The Secretary General of the Journalist Support Committee participates in the General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union leading a Delegation of International Journalists.

The Secretary General of the Journalist Support Committee, Mr. Yaser Al-Sayegh, led an international press delegation which included the Vice President of the Association of European Journalists, Ms. Saia Tsaousidou, as well as the Secretary General of the association, Mr. Tibor Macak, participated in the 9th session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union held in Mashhad (Iran) from the 2nd to the 4th of July 2017.
Mr. Al-Sayegh asserted that the delegation held many meetings with directors of media institutions and companies where they discussed issues of common interest concerning the affairs of journalists, media professionals, and media workers.
The delegation also stressed on the importance of freedom of opinion and expression in addition to the right to freedom of exchange of information and ideas through all media outlets.
Mr. Al-Sayegh added that the delegation to the Union had emphasized on the continuing strengthening and consolidation of relationship that would serve to promote intercultural dialogue among journalists of both the European Union and the Islamic countries.

Lastly, the participants agreed on the importance of increasing mutual briefing missions in order to keep pace with the course of events as well as the cultural and civilization spread of the countries.
