Journalist Support Committee Condemns the Death of the journalist Precious Owolabi
The Journalist Support Committee in Geneva expressed its deep sorrow over the death of the journalist Precious Owolabi, a journalist working for the Nigerian “Channels TV”.
The Committee, while pointing at the magnitude dangers that journalists are facing in Nigeria, calls on the government agencies to assume their responsibilities to protect the lives of journalists and to make every effort to stop violence and neutralize journalists.
The Committee decries the death of journalist Precious while performing his professional duties and considers that the use of the government apparatus for armed repression against journalists constitutes a flagrant violation of the obligations of international human rights and relevant international conventions.
