The Journalists Support Committee condemns the Israeli assault on Journalists in Hebron

The Journalists Support Committee condemns the attacks carried out by the Israeli occupying forces on Palestinian journalists during their coverage of the clashes that broke out after Friday day prayers in the 'Khirbit Qalqie' area, south of Hebron, in the West Bank.

The committee also alluded that the occupying Israeli forces have intentionally blocked journalists from reporting and covering events by attacking them directly and arresting journalist crew teams.

The committee called upon all the international institutions to interfere and stop the Israeli aggression against journalists and against Palestinian news teams seen as these acts of aggression oppose all international regulations, conventions, and charters which allow and permit free travel, reporting, and coverage without any pressure. The committee emphasizes on Article 19 of the Universal declaration of Human Rights and Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights, that protect free speech on the basis that every human has the right to their own opinion without any pressure.

The committee commends the journalists and their crews for their degree of professionalism, despite the risks and dangers they faced as well as the patience they displayed under harsh conditions.

Note that the occupying forces still have 33 journalists detained in their jails through the last few years.
